East Coast Family Vacation--Days 1 and 2

It's been awhile since we've returned from our East Coast family vacation and we had so many great experiences that we still wanted to share them with you--so better late than never right?

Our journey began on April 2 when we flew from Portland, Oregon to Pennsylvania to visit Derek's brother, Rob and his family for two weeks. We hadn't seen them for probably two years and wanted to take the kids to see the East Coast because they were studying about the history there in school. Derek's brother works for Corporate Nissan and therefore gets moved around quite frequently. This last move took them all the way across the United States from the West Coast to the East Coast. We decided that if we wanted to see back East we should fly out there fairly soon. It's a good thing that we did, because while we were there, Rob learned that he and his family would be moving to Chicago soon. Was our timing good or what?

So we arrived in good condition even though we had some rocky landings and turbulants along the way. I think God must have been really overwhelmed with all of the praying that I did. The kids did great dispite the long flights and switching planes. Of course for them the turbulants were fun and exciting. Derek's poor arm almost got squeezed off everytime the plane moved in a direction that I didn't like. Can you tell that I don't like flying? Rob's wife, Lisa picked us up the next day from the hotel and off we went to Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

That night Lisa, her daughter Kendall, Katelyn and I went to a Christina Aguilera concert in Philly. I've never seen so many screaming girls in my life, including my own and my neice. We had seats in the 7th row and anytime Christina's eyes looked in our direction the girls swore that she was looking directly at them. She even waved to them 7 times!! Now, of course, Christina is their new BFF (best friend forever--for those of you not familiar with instant messaging language). We had a great time and the girls couldn't have been happier. Seeing their cute little smiles made going deaf all worth it. Man I must be getting old. Stay tuned more to come.....

Very cool. I'd love to visit D.C. I was in Boston last July and I loved it! We didn't grow up with that type of history.
